Francesco completed Master degree in Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Marche, Italy.

And before he graduated as Bachelor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Marche, Italy.

Francesco worked as Project Analyst, Comunita Montana Esino-Frasassi, Italy. A project for the improvement of local mobility through empirical surveys and emission dispersion modelling.

And from 2011 as a Project Manager at Eurocentro Ltd, Viale Don Minzoni 3 Jesi (Ancona), Italy. A consultancy agency wih the main focus on planning and implementing services for public and private companies at national and transnational level.

Current Project

"NOVEL CATALYST FOR SECOND GENERATION BIODIESEL PRODUCTION”

Francesco work focuses on the development of novel heterogeneous acid catalysts to produce butyl butyrate, a bio-fuel refining agent through the esterification of n-butanol with butyric acid. The catalyst support are built from the waste products of a bio-fuel. The carbon catalyst supports is further activated by developing a greater pore size through treatment with potassium hydroxide and then sulfonated using concentrated sulphuric acid. Also a one-step synthesis process of butyl butyrate from butyric acid through hydrogenation esterification is investigated in Francesco's PhD research. Due to the fact that this process does not utilise directly the alcohol for the production of the ester, it has potential to replace currently used esterification processes in which both butyric acid and butanol are used.
